The chance to flaunt outfits and ideas as muddy paths and grassy fields turn themselves into catwalks to pay homage to the weird and wonderful world of fashion. This summer as the heat rose and the festival celebrated its 40th birthday the trend setters, and er...rule breakers, were out in full throttle!

Stepping out into the belligerent world of mid-season sales
It's here again, every bargainista's favourite time of year- Summer Sale! It creeps up on you, and before you know it you're storming down Oxford St at 9am with eager eyes and clammy hands, full of anticipation- wondering what divine finds await you in the treasure troves of last season's cast offs.
With nine collections to exhibit, the models’ changes at Brighton Fashion Week’s Ready-to-Wear (RTW) shows were fast-paced, and I imagine frantic behind-the-scenes, yet the runway performances didn’t show a hint of it.
While not as electrifying as the Couture Show, the event showcased some exciting emerging talent – even Biba’s Barbara Hulanicki seemed impressed, although it was hard to tell behind those huge dark glasses.
With the rise in recycling clothes, adaptation and charity shop bargains, hunting for that new ‘it-outfit’ has never been more exciting, or rewarding! However, if sitting with a needle and cotton, and a pair of fabric scissors isn’t your thing, how about attending a local clothes swap?
